Microneedling vs Microchanneling

What is the difference between Microneedling and Microchanneling ? The main differences are method and downtime. Our Procell Microchanneling device uses a stamping motion that uniformly distributes serums, rather than the scraping motion of Microneedling. The stamping motion reduces downtime to about one day, while Microneedling downtime can be 3-5 days.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment where fine, sterile needles create tiny micro-injuries in the skin to kickstart your body’s natural healing process. By stimulating collagen and elastin production, it helps smooth fine lines, fade acne scars, tighten pores, and even out skin tone. Treatments typically involve numbing the skin, gently rolling or stamping with a needle device, and then allowing the skin to repair over the next couple of days. You can expect mild redness and sensitivity—like a light sunburn—for 1–3 days, and most people see the best results after a series of 3–6 sessions spaced about a month apart.

What skin conditions will it help with?
Does Microneedling hurt?

Before your session, we apply a topical numbing cream so you’ll feel minimal discomfort—most describe it as a light tingling or vibration rather than real “pain.” Sensitivity varies by individual and treatment depth, but it’s generally well tolerated. If you feel any pinching, let your esthetician know so they can adjust pressure or add more numbing. Afterwards, your skin may feel sunburn-like for a day or two, but that fades quickly.

How long before I can expect to see results?

Though neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen) can take several weeks, it is not abnormal to notice an improvement in the quality and appearance of your skin within the first 24 hours. After 2-3 treatments a thicker more robust, collagen filled cellular matrix will produce more consistent and noticeable improvement. And 6 or more treatments may be recommended for scarring, laxity and wrinkles.

Are there any contraindications?

While microneedling is generally safe, there are several important reasons to postpone treatment until the skin is healthy and ready. You should avoid needling over active acne, open wounds, eczema flares, or any skin infections to prevent spreading bacteria or delayed healing. Those prone to keloid or hypertrophic scarring, recent isotretinoin users, people on blood thinners or with bleeding disorders, and anyone who is immunosuppressed should also steer clear unless cleared by a medical professional. Finally, many practitioners recommend delaying microneedling during pregnancy or nursing as a precaution.

Who can do this treatment?

Microneedling is ideal for anyone looking to boost collagen, refine texture, or diminish scarring—regardless of skin type or tone. It’s a great option if you want visible results without lasers or long recovery. However, it’s not recommended if you have active acne breakouts, eczema flares, or certain skin infections at the treatment site. A pre-treatment consult will ensure it’s safe and tailored to your unique skin health.

What is the aftercare?

Keep your skin gently cleansed and hydrated with a calming serum or moisturizer; ingredients like hyaluronic acid are your best friend right now. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day—your fresh skin is more sun-sensitive for at least a week. Steer clear of retinoids, acids, and vigorous exfoliation until any redness fully subsides. Following these steps will help you heal quickly and maximize that post-needling glow.
